BEFORE YOU BUILD
Find the right parts.
Make the right connections.
Use this checklist before selecting components. Always verify compatibility against the manufacturer's documentation for your exact model.
01 / Battery voltage
Check the supported cell count and voltage range of the ESC, flight controller and other electronics. Every component must support the battery you plan to use.
02 / Motor and ESC pairing
Choose an ESC with a suitable continuous current rating for the motor and propeller combination. Check the manufacturer's load testing rather than choosing by motor size alone.
03 / Mounting and dimensions
Compare board mounting patterns, frame clearance, motor mounting holes and propeller diameter. Leave room for wiring, insulation and airflow.
04 / Firmware and connections
Verify supported firmware, ESC protocols, receiver compatibility and pinouts. Connector shapes alone do not guarantee compatibility.
05 / Your first power-up
Remove propellers before bench testing. Inspect polarity, solder joints and insulation, and follow the component manufacturer's setup and battery safety guidance.
